People who search for “black magic removal” usually want a way that is true to their faith. In Islam, magic is called sihr. The Qur’an and Sunnah speak about it openly – and they also show how to be freed from it: by seeking refuge in Allah, reciting specific surahs and holding on to the duas of the Prophet ﷺ. This page sets out that path with references.

What sihr is in Islam
The longest passage on magic in the Qur’an is Surah al-Baqarah 2:102. It speaks of people who learned from Harut and Marut “that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife,” and adds that they do not harm anyone through it except by Allah’s permission. The foundation is clear: the final power belongs to Allah, not to the magician.
The Prophet ﷺ listed sorcery among the seven destructive sins to be avoided (Sahih al-Bukhari 2766, Sahih Muslim 89). Practising magic, or having it done, is therefore forbidden. Removing it is done not with counter-magic, but with the Qur’an and the duas of the Sunnah.
The Qur’an on the end of magic
When Pharaoh’s magicians showed their tricks, Musa said:
“And when they had thrown, Moses said, “What you have brought is [only] magic. Indeed, Allāh will expose its worthlessness. Indeed, Allāh does not amend the work of corrupters.” (Qur’an 10:81, Sahih International)
And in Surah Ta-Ha:
“And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is.”” (Qur’an 20:69, Sahih International)
These verses are recited in ruqyah for sihr because they express its core: what magic builds, Allah brings to nothing.
When the Prophet ﷺ was affected
ʿAisha narrates that a man named Labid ibn al-Aʿsam worked magic on the Prophet ﷺ, so that he would think he had done something which he had not done. He kept supplicating to Allah until it was made known to him what had happened and where the magic was placed (Sahih al-Bukhari 5763, Sahih Muslim 2189). The event is linked in the commentaries to the two surahs of refuge, al-Falaq and an-Nas, in which we seek protection:
“And from the evil of the blowers in knots” (Qur’an 113:4, Sahih International)
The Islamic steps of black magic removal
1. Ruqyah with the Qur’an
Ruqyah is permitted as long as it contains nothing of polytheism (Sahih Muslim 2200). For sihr the usual verses are al-Fatiha, Ayat al-Kursi (2:255), the last two verses of al-Baqarah (2:285–286), 7:117–122, 10:81–82, 20:69 and Surahs 112–114. The full method is on Ruqyah: verses and duas.
2. The three surahs every night
The Prophet ﷺ recited al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq and an-Nas each night, blew into his hands and wiped over his body, three times (Sahih al-Bukhari 5017).
3. Surah al-Baqarah in the home
The Prophet ﷺ said that Satan runs away from the house in which Surah al-Baqarah is recited (Sahih Muslim 780). Reciting it in your home, even spread over several days, is part of the plan.
4. Refuge in Allah’s perfect words
“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created” – nothing harms the one who says it at a place until he leaves (Sahih Muslim 2708).
5. Dua for pain
Place your hand where you feel pain, say “Bismillah” three times and seven times “I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and what I fear” (Sahih Muslim 2202).
6. Consistency
The five daily prayers, Ayat al-Kursi morning and evening, and regular recitation matter more than any single session.
